RIDELINES Mountain Bike Tuition Ltd are a full time mountain bike tuition, courses, coaching and guiding company based in the Tweed Valley in the Scottish Borders.

 

We are firmly based in the Tweed Valley in the Scottish Borders only 4 miles away from Glentress Forest and a few crank turns from Innerleithen XC and the superb downhill trails. 

 

We've been running mountain bike tuition, courses and coaching sessions  since 2006 as well asTweed Valley based guided rides. Years of dedicated experience means we know what it takes to get the best out of all our clients. We'll make sure you pick up a fistful of riding techniques that will last you a lifetime.

 

All of RIDELINES staff are fully qualified MBLA instructors with decades of riding and coaching experience between them. We are a dedicated and professional mountain bike tuition company developing progressive techniques for our coaching and tuition sessions with total focus on rider development.
 

Most of us are not race heads or super athletes - we don't need to be. We need to be totally client  focused and in-tune coaches delivering exactly what you need on the day. We guarantee to get the most out of your riding, improve your skills, let you in on good technique secrets and really raise your riding confidence - no matter what your skill level. We are, of course, fully insured and have all the paperwork you would expect from industry professionals. 

 

So what will we do for you? We'll get you out of those dirty bad riding habits, we'll build your riding confidence.We'll make sure you are riding more technical and more challenging terrain in just a few hours. We'll get you riding faster, more confidently and in total control.

Andy Weir is the boss. Though he’s too humble to admit it he’s pretty easygoing and 'boss most likely to..' buy you lunch after a long days riding. Andy has been lead coach and tutor for several years at MB7 and Forestry Commission Mountain Biker Ranger at Glentress and Innerleithen for years before establishing RIDELINES in 2010 and has a lifetime of 'just riding' experience before that. Andy is a tuition zealot with years of experience providing supportive tuition and coaching in a relaxed atmosphere and will make sure you learn to stretch your skills and really boost your riding confidence. Our ethos is simple, total rider focused development.

 

RIDELINES COACH - BEN WILLS

Ben Wills - MBLA TCL/MBL Qualified

Ben is the baby in the bunch but don’t be fooled – he’s grown up with Glentress and Innerleithen on his doorstep and studied Mountain Biking skills, leadership, coaching and trail building at the best specialist Sports Coaching College in Whistler, Canada. He’s got a wealth of experience that most people don’t get in a lifetime of riding.  Not just a first class rider but has a special talent for coaching 1:1 and skills course development.  Ben's got the Tweed Valley trails in his blood and will make sure you get to ride on the best hidden and our favourite known trails in the Valley and take advantage of his progressive coaching talent.

 

 RIDELINES COACH - DAN CATHCART

Dan Cathcart - MBLA TCL/MBL Qualified

Dan got his first mountain bike at the tender age of 15 (when hardtails were the only option). He's well travelled having ridden in the UK, France, Sweden and Canada. Living for a while in the heart of the Rockies while serving his time as a bike mechanic and ski technician. A passionate resident of the Tweed Valley his mental map of our sweet trails and whoop inducing descents is considerable indeed. Now a father of two budding young mountain bikers he's passing on his passion to a new generation. Dan's warm and friendly approach and analytical style of coaching will ensure you get the most out of your riding time.

 

RIDELINES COACH - KEITH IRVING

 Keith Irving - MBLA TCL/MBL Qualified

Keith has a long history of adventure sports coaching with years as a professional ski instructor under his belt and cycling accreditation training with Cycling Scotland and Scottish Cycling programmes. With too many qualifications to list when Keith isn’t working for RIDELINES he delivers mountain biking lessons to schools and youth groups across the Scottish Borders with Cycling Development Scotland. He is also regularly charming RIDELINES clients with his Mr Motivator coaching style. Keith does it all and spends time providing a detailed and thorough analysis of your riding. 

 

RIDELINES COACH - TARA LEE

Tara Sze-pei Lee - MBLA TCL Qualified

Tara is the event signer-upper of the RIDELINES crew. If there's a mountain bike race or event on within a hundred miles she'll be signed up and her race number filed in advance in chronological order. She completed Mega Avalanche last year and would be proud to admit she has more than one Air Maiden t-shirt in her closet. She's gregarious, fun, brave and chilled out. She knows all the in's and out's of good mountain biking technique and will make sure you're brave enough to ride it all with bundles of confidence. 

 

RIDELINES COACH - NIC JENKINS

Nic Jenkins - MBLA TCL /MBL Qualified

Nic is a familiar face to regular Glentress visitors having worked at both The Hub and currently Alpine Bikes as a mechanic for 8 years and counting. He’s Cytec level 3 qualified and always the man to ask when bike repairs gets messy. Nic also runs a top notch and super bike friendly self catering accommodation The Bike Lodge in Innerleithen. Nic’s the shy guy in the team but his infectious smile and easygoing leadership makes him a great guy to be out on the trails with. Nic is often found out on the natural trails of the Tweed Valley and delivers awesome Guided rides in Scottish Borders for us.

Velda is (until we put this photo up) the invisible face of RIDELINES. Looking after anything that involves the website and marketing. She's finding her wheels again after a pregnancy hiatus (thanks to Master F cub esquire). If you pass her on a trail she'll be the one with the massive grin on her face for escaping for a rare afternoon off up the hill.
